Publication: The SUSTAINABLE VISION “Education & Urban Development”

From 23 to 29 November 2025, the Scientific College of Design (SCD) in Muscat, Oman hosted "The Sustainable Vision: Education & Urban Development," - a workshop of the DAAD-funded project "Inclusive Cities".

Organized jointly by SCD, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (Germany), and Notre Dame University – Louaize (Lebanon), the workshop brought together students, academics, and civil society stakeholders to explore the intersection of community-based participation, urban sustainability, and education. The program unfolded in three phases: theoretical exchange through panel discussions and lectures, participatory field visits to heritage sites such as Birkat Al Mouz, Misfat Al Abriyyin, and Al Hamra, and collaborative intercultural teamwork culminating in student-led design proposals for inclusive public space and heritage preservation. Parallel sessions advanced the project’s broader goals, including the co-development of four new university courses and the expansion of the partnership to include Alexandria University. This report documents and reflects on the outcomes, relationships and momentum it generated for the continuation of the collaboration.
